On June 19-22 of the current year, in the Austrian city of Vienna, workshops on the topic of gender budgeting were held for representatives of Georgia and other countries as part of a working visit organized by the "EU4Gender Equality Reform Helpdesk" project. Participants had an opportunity to meet the representatives of PBO Austria, Ministry of Finance, the representatives of the Vienna City Hall and other agencies that carry out gender budgeting and found out directly from their side both - theoretical and practical issues of gender budgeting implementation.
Meeting with the representatives of Austrian Parliamentary Budget Office was especially significant, as the Austrian PBO, like the PBO of Georgia, is an independent fiscal institution, which has a clearly defined role and functions in the gender budgeting process. Shorena Kakhidze spoke about the experience, the achievements and the existing challenges within the framework of Gender Budgeting.
PBO is actively involved in the implementation process of gender budgeting and closely cooperates with the EU project on this issue. Experiences were shared and plans for future cooperation were drawn up between the countries involved in frames of the abovementioned meetings.
